The president of the American Cassinese Congregation, Abbot Elias Lorenzo served as an ordained priest for 30 years. Among his activities, Abbot Elias Lorenzo is a founding member and the president of the International Commission on Benedictine Education.

Established in 2002, the International Commission on Benedictine Education (ICBE) is committed to supporting schools that practice a Benedictine approach to education. Among its foremost objectives is providing the human and spiritual resources required to encourage an international network of Benedictine schools. To this end, the Benedictine Educators' Network (BENet), an international symposium for administrators and teachers, meets once every three years to this end.
The 2019 edition of BENet will take place at St Scholastica's College, Glebe, in Sydney, Australia, from September 30 to October 4. The theme for the symposium is "Benedictine wisdom beneath the Southern Cross," and will spotlight the new and ancient in the Benedictine tradition, especially in Australian culture and society. Attendees will listen to engaging speakers, participate in educational workshops, and have access to an expo. Find complete details, as they are released, at www.benet2019.org. Interested parties may also register for BENet 2019 through the website.
